SEO Analyst, 2018-2019

Flight Centre Travel Group – Americas Leisure Brands

I took my newly-honed digital skills to the travel industry in January of 2018. Joining a shared services department at Flight Centre Travel Group’s leisure division, I had the opportunity to work on the SEO performance of 4 different brands. This jumpstarted my digital marketing career, and provided the opportunity to work alongside UX designers, mobile app developers, and a robust paid search team. Below are the notable skills I gained in this role.

  • Achieved Google Analytics and Optimizely certifications for analytics and on-page A/B testing respectively
  • Conducted all organic market research required for launching core destinations for the Better Beach Vacations product
  • Worked to align UX/UI recommendations + SEO on-page optimizations for Liberty Travel’s new destination pages
  • Developed StudentUniverse’s “flights to” hub pages responsible for driving high purchase intent traffic

Webmaster/SEO Strategist, 2016-Present

VikingHistory.com (sole proprietor)

dell’Ancora.com (sole proprietor)

In Autumn of 2016, I decided to take the passion I have for history and turn it into a business. Having some experience building niche sites, I was familiar with the idea of a niche brand, as well as e-Commerce. I created a line of products based around historically accurate items from the Viking Age, and began selling on Etsy. Since then, I have reached over 150 sales within the first year, almost 16,000 unique shop visits with no paid ads, and gained extraordinary insights along the way. I was forced to learn about SEO specifically geared towards Etsy’s algorithms, and become a pro at specialized software like Marmalead. As a result, my ability to think and learn as a business owner has grown, and I’ve listed some of the prominent digital skills I think are worth mentioning.

  • Lead product designer and vendor relationship specialist, produced bestselling items and negotiated product partnerships at wholesale levels below 60% of retail cost
  • Search Engine Optimization strategist of more than one revenue earning brand sites, one of which I gain over 2500 unpaid visits each month, and growing
  • Acquired skills in project management, product fulfillment, social media marketing, customer service, product photography, and traffic statistics analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Marmalead, WordPress, and Etsy Stats Tools

Senior Deckhand, 2015-Present

Schooner FAME of Salem

After the closing of Moosejaw Mountaineering’s only East Coast location, I searched for a new position in the outdoor industry. In addition to my passion for history, I have always fostered a love for sailing. While searching, I stumbled upon the Schooner FAME, a historic sailboat which provides daily tours in Salem, MA. After 8 consecutive seasons aboard FAME and working countless hours, I have logged over 360 days of seatime. In addition to my experience on the water, I acquired numerous skills in shipbuilding and maintenance. Especially relevant to my knack for business and creativity is the diligence and patience I have gained during years of maintenance. Below I have listed the most prominent duties performed, and technical experience I have gained.

  • Senior Deckhand aboard Schooner FAME of Salem, MA
  • Perform daily duties like bartending, sail plan management, course steering, and historical presentation
  • Camp counselor during summer weeks, teaching navigation, swim class, and ship’s rigging to students ages 8 to 14

Assistant Manager, 2013-2015

Moosejaw Mountaineering, Natick MA

While studying at Regis College I was eager to work in an industry I was passionate about. I put my existing customer service skills to the test as a sales associate at a local outdoor gear retailer. I became a prominent member of the sales team, and quickly became assistant manager. My love for the outdoors, passion for helping fellow adventurers, and desire to provide excellent customer service made this role feel natural. While still an active member of the sales team, I helped bring new traffic to the storefront by creating local public events. Bringing Boy Scouts, Yoga Studios, and Dog Centers to the store created new customers and boosted our brand reputation locally. Below are some of these skills I obtained.

  • Key-holding manager responsible for all housekeeping tasks. These include drawer balancing, daily project management, and supervision of a team of twelve employees
  • Leader in identifying and increasing KPI percentages on a day to day and MoM scale, and tracking these statistics for each employee
  • Developed and executed event planning strategies critical for traffic and proven increase in sales. Created the platform used to organize outreach programs with local communities

Reputation Management

I have also helped with reputation management for a few different clients. Here are two of my friends who are crushing it in their industries! I’ve helped them along the way with beautiful website designs and organic SEO strategies for their reputations.
